Hampton Announces
March Rain Barrel Workshops
The Hampton Master Gardeners and the Hampton Clean
City Commission are partners in bringing much-acclaimed rain barrel
workshops to Hampton for the third year. According to
www.savingwater.org, one inch of rain falling on a square foot
of surface yields approximately 0.6 gallons of water. How many
square feet of roof cover your house? Save water (and lower your
water bills) by installing a rain barrel. The water you save can be
used to water plants, wash cars, and do other household chores. You
can
make your
own rain barrel in a fun, friendly workshop that teaches you why
as well as how.
The first six Hampton rain barrel workshops of
2010 will be on the following dates:
- March 6: 9:00-11:00 AM
- March 13: 9:00-11:00 AM
- March 20: 9:00-11:00 AM
- March 20: 1:00-3:00 PM
- March 27: 9:00-11:00 AM
- March 27: 1:00-3:00 PM
All workshops will be held at Blue Bird Gap Farm – 60 Pine
Chapel Rd., Hampton in the feeding shed behind the tower with
the Blue Bird on it.
The workshops are rain or shine. Please bring $40.00 in
cash or a check made out to Hampton Master Gardeners, a
lock or crescent wrench, a flashlight, and
work gloves. We provide the pre-drilled barrel, and all the
hardware. The barrel is a 50-55 gallon plastic olive or pickle
barrel, so please make sure you have a vehicle with sufficient
cargo capacity to carry it home after the workshop.

Ausink at
